Fresh Snowfall at Porland Head Lighthouse...

Via Flickr:
I've been waiting all year for clear dawn after an ending snowstorm to shoot a snowy sunrise at Portland Head Lighthouse. Took a gamble under cloudy skies at 4AM to drive up there and hope for some light...

The sun never broke through on ...the horizon, but clear skies overhead made for a great frame for the lighthouse. Waves were breaking about 15 feet high, and spray made clean shots difficult. The spray also made for a moody feel in the frame, and I used ND filters to slow down the exposures to many seconds, enhancing the misty mood.

Well worth the early start!

Be sure to stop by my photography facebook page for more shots later today!
