The I Have To Shoot What?! Challenge for Week 50: Winter
A friend and I went to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge to try to find some snowy owls that have been spotted, but we had no luck unless you consider a tiny white blob in the dunes very far away success. However, we did find some amazing icing along the road on every fallen leaf and sprig of grass... It was absolutely the prettiest ice I've ever seen!

Tonight's firewood on the cart waiting to be brought into the house accompanied by the 9 lb mall persuader that made some of the larger pieces more manageable.

It was only 8°F at sunset today with a Dew Point of -6°F with a slight breeze out of the north making it feel like -5°F, definitely an icy cold sunset !

Winter does not officially start until December 21st but here in Maine it really starts when the ponds are frozen over, there is snow on the ground and temperatures hover in the freezing range at night, this winter has started early and the pond is frozen over, covered with snow and the night time temperatures have been visiting the mid to low 20's, seems we are off to a rocky start this winter for sure.

VT Barn - On the long drive home from Ottawa back to Pelham I was scouting all around for something to get a day pic. The day was a beautiful clear day with some pretty blue skies. I haven't been coming home the usual way since we moved to the southern part of NH because anyway you go now it's a further longer trip. I travel through northern VT and NY and cross over about an hour from Ottawa. I have to say Vermont always has some outstanding barns that I have captured passing through.

Caught some really nice light on my first frame, it only lasted for this single exposure.

I haven't seen many photos from this location, and it took more than a few hours of research to get this angle. Yesterday I went in the morning and I got kicked out by security, so I went back today at sunset with no problems. Boston skyline buffs probably recognize this view, but from my research it is somewhat rare. Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L.
